Cheap, educated and sound

🦄CHEAP, EDUCATED and SOUND🦄

Three words that describe most people’s ideal horse!

Reality check! If it’s cheap and it’s sound it’s unlikely to be educated. If it’s educated and sound it’s unlikely to be cheap. If it’s cheap and educated it’s unlikely to be sound. Pick two. Three is very unlikely!

There are so many horses available on the market these days, how do you choose one that you want? What matters the most to you? Maybe if you don’t want high level dressage or the next World Cup showjumper then the lack of soundness doesn’t worry you. Maybe if you’re wanting to spend little money on a sound horse you’re not too worried about lack of education and are prepared to put in the hours. Maybe you can afford to spend some more so you can have sound and educated!

I go out to a lot of people and see the horses they’ve bought. So many lovely ones with all sorts of educational levels, different budgets spent, different levels of soundness. When shopping around these buyers have thought they’ve found the perfect horse for them! However it isn’t uncommon for people to have been sold something they think fits their needs but it doesn’t.

There are many reasons I get called to come out to people. It usually starts with lack of confidence in a rider, or behavioural issues in a horse. Maybe lack of education for the rider or the horse.

I can help with all sorts of things.

When you’ve bought a horse that isn’t quite as described, don’t give up! In many cases we can work towards bridging the gap between the horse you wanted and the horse you have in front of you.
